Digha was described by Warren Hastings as the 'Brighton of the East'. It is a perfect holiday beach on the Bay of Bengal. There are actually two beaches, Old Digha and New Digha. Apart from these two there are other attractive places for tourists like MARC, Lord Shiva temple, Science city, Amrabati Lake and many more. Another tourist spot nearby is Talsari, derived from the two words Tala (Palm tree) and Sari (row). The palm trees surrounding the place gives such the name, Talsari, the row of palm trees. The unique receding waters with calm ambience and tropical weather all year round makes it a popular destination for tourists.
